Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 27, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how OpenBook Financial Inc. (“OpenBook,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information in connection with our products and services, including Obie, as well as any website, platform, application, or integration that references or links to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”).

We may provide different or additional notices depending on the nature of your relationship with us and the Services you use. This Privacy Policy is intended for users located in the United States and does not address international or region-specific legal requirements.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to data about job applicants, employees, contractors, or other personnel, nor to data that is deidentified or publicly available as defined under applicable law. This Privacy Policy is not a contract and does not create any legal rights or obligations beyond those established by law.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

The types of information we collect depend on how you interact with OpenBook and our Services. You may provide information directly, we may collect it automatically, or we may receive it from third-party sources.

A. Information You Provide Directly

We collect personal information that you choose to provide, including:

Contact Information. When you create or update an OpenBook account, communicate with us, or participate in surveys or feedback opportunities, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, and communication preferences. We use this information to respond to your requests, provide customer support, and send you communications consistent with your preferences.

Account Information. When you register for or use Obie or related OpenBook Services, we collect account credentials (such as passwords or verification codes), phone numbers, and information about your preferences and use of our products. This information enables us to operate, maintain, and secure your account and personalize your experience.

Customer Content. You may choose to input, upload, or transmit data, files, communications, or other content to our Services—for example, text messages, questions, files, or contextual data you share with Obie. We process this content solely to provide, maintain, and improve the Services, including generating relevant responses and insights.

Integration and Email Data. When you connect third-party accounts—such as Gmail, Outlook, or other platforms—OpenBook may access limited email or account data as authorized by you. For example, if you link your email for use cases such as notifications or contextual search, we may process metadata (like sender, subject, and timestamps) to identify and surface relevant information for your Obie experience. OpenBook does not send emails on your behalf and does not access or store the full contents of your email without your explicit permission.

Payment Information. When you make purchases or subscribe to paid Services, we collect payment-related information, such as your billing address and payment method. Payments are processed securely through third-party providers (such as Stripe). OpenBook itself does not store your complete payment card details.

Feedback and Support. When you contact us for support or provide feedback, we collect information about your request, your communications with us, and any additional data you choose to provide. We use this to respond, improve the Services, and maintain quality assurance.

B. Information Collected Automatically

When you access or use the Services, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information using cookies, pixels, SDKs, and related technologies. This includes:

Device and Technical Information. We collect details about the device and network you use, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, carrier, and device identifiers.

Usage and Interaction Data. We collect information about your activity with the Services, such as pages visited, features used, messages sent, interactions with Obie, and referral URLs. We may also collect analytics data on feature performance and engagement trends.

Location Information. We may infer your approximate geographic location from your IP address or device settings to improve relevance of recommendations and comply with applicable laws.

We use this information to operate, maintain, and improve the Services; understand usage patterns; prevent fraud; ensure security; and personalize your experience.

C. Information from Other Sources

We may receive information about you from:

Service Providers and Partners. Third parties who provide services such as analytics, authentication, or payment processing may share limited information with us as needed to operate the Services.

Affiliates. OpenBook may receive information from its subsidiaries or affiliates for operational or administrative purposes consistent with this Policy.

Social Media and Integrations. If you connect OpenBook or Obie with a social platform or another app, we may receive information you authorize that service to share.

Public or Commercial Data Sources. We may supplement information we collect with publicly available or licensed demographic or business data to better understand our users and improve personalization.

Inferences. We may derive insights about your preferences or interests based on your interactions with Obie or other Services, such as the types of content you engage with most frequently.

2. How We Use Personal Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following business and operational purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including delivering responses, insights, and personalized experiences through Obie.
  • To create and manage user accounts and authenticate access.
  • To communicate with you, including transactional notices, updates, and support responses.
  • To process payments, subscriptions, and fulfill contractual obligations.
  • To personalize and enhance your experience by remembering preferences and tailoring recommendations.
  • To monitor usage, troubleshoot issues, and improve functionality and performance.
  • To conduct analytics and research to understand trends and develop new features.
  • To maintain the security and integrity of our systems, detect and prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with legal obligations.
  • To enforce our Terms of Use and other applicable agreements.
  • To conduct limited affiliate marketing, where product or service links may generate a commission for OpenBook. These links are contextual and not direct in-chat advertisements.
  • To comply with legal, regulatory, or contractual obligations, or as otherwise described at the point of collection or with your consent.

3. How We Share Personal Information

OpenBook does not sell your personal information. We may share data only as described below:

Service Providers. We engage third-party vendors to support core operations—such as hosting, analytics, authentication, customer support, or payment processing. These providers may access personal information solely to perform services on our behalf and are bound by contractual obligations to protect it.

Affiliates. We may share information within the OpenBook family of entities to operate and improve our products and provide a consistent user experience.

Business Transactions. If OpenBook is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, we may disclose information as part of that transaction, consistent with confidentiality requirements.

Legal Compliance and Protection. We may disclose personal information to comply with applicable law, enforce our agreements, protect our rights or property, or respond to lawful requests such as subpoenas or court orders.

With Your Consent. We may share information with third parties when you direct us to do so or consent explicitly—for example, when integrating with a third-party app.

4. Your Privacy Choices

Communications. You may opt out of promotional emails by clicking the unsubscribe link within any marketing message or by contacting us at support@opbk.ai. You will still receive essential transactional communications related to your account or Services.

SMS Messages. Obie may communicate via text messages as part of your use of the Services. You can opt out of promotional SMS messages at any time by replying “STOP.” Message and data rates may apply.

Cookies and Analytics. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies or adjust preferences. Certain parts of the Services may not function properly if you disable these technologies.

Affiliate Links. OpenBook may include affiliate links in communications or responses where relevant to a user’s query. These links are context-driven and do not constitute third-party advertising. You may choose not to engage with any affiliate content at any time.

Do Not Track. Our Services currently do not respond to “Do Not Track” signals.

Access and Deletion Requests. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at support@opbk.ai. We may retain certain data as permitted or required by law.

5. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are intended for individuals aged 13 and older. OpenBook does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that information from a child under 13 has been collected, we will delete it promptly.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data. You use the Services at your own risk.

7. Retention of Data

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data, the nature of your relationship with us, and legal or operational needs. When information is no longer required, we will delete or deidentify it.

8. Third-Party Services and Links

Our Services may include integrations, links, or features provided by third parties. These external services are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy notices of any third-party service you interact with. OpenBook is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of third parties.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above and post the updated version on opbk.ai/privacy. For material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as by email or prominent notice on our site. All updates are effective upon posting unless otherwise stated.
